SSA teachers hold protests across Kashmir to press for demands

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers on Wednesday held massive protests across Kashmir valley to press for their demands.

The protesting teachers were demanding implementation of 7th pay commission besides de-linking their salary from Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD).

Massive protests erupted at district level against the government for their “in-different attitude” towards SSA teachers.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police foiled a sit-in organized by teachers joint action committee outside civil secretariat Srinagar and bundled the leaders of various associations in police vehicles. They were later lodged at Shaheed Gunj Police station.

“Around 80 representatives are lodged in Police station. We were not allowed to stage sit-in outside secretariat and were cane charged by the police,” said president JK teachers’ forum Abdul Qayoom Wani.
