SSM College of Engineering commemorates Science Day

National Science Day was celebrated by SSM College of Engineering Diver Parihaspora.

The college in a statement said the eventwas organized to commemorate contribution of Dr. C.V. Raman first Indian Nobellaureate in  1930 for his discovery ofenergy state transition,scattering of light which subsequently came to be knownas “Raman effect”. The theme for this year’s Science Day was “Woman inScience”.  Prof. (Dr.) M.A Shah,Professor, Department of Physics NIT Srinagar, was the Chief Guest on theoccasion.

   

Dr. Tasneem Keng Senior Scientist RemoteSensing Department, Dr. Rabia Coordinator Nano Technology University ofKashmir, Dr. Nasheman Senior Scientist Indian Institute of IntegratedMedicines, Dr. Safiullah, Assistant Professor of Chemistry NIT Srinagar,  Prof. (Dr.) Barkat Hussain Former PrincipalNIT Srinagar were the Guests of Honour.

Dr. N. A. Shah Registrar SSM College ofEngineering highlighted the importance of the National Science. He advised thestudents to use the contribution of Women in Science as inspiration fordeveloping a scientific temper.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Tasneem Keng,spoke about the remote sensing operations in J&K and its benefits inday-to-day life. She also stressed for the role of women in discouraging usageof plastic and polythene for improving the quality of environment.
