Stakeholders demand implementation of child protection laws

In the aftermath of rape and murder of an eight year-old girl in Kathua, stakeholders have pitched for implementation of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO) in Jammu and Kashmir 

People from different walks of life pitched for POCSO implementation during a workshop here organised by an NGO ‘White Globe’. On the occasion, advocate Faisal Qadri said “since this organization is created, the focus should now be on the implementation of the POSCO. We should not wait for the government to enact this act.”

   

“The White Globe organization should prepare documents about the reported cases of child abuse and file a petition in High Court seeking implementation of the act,” he said. 

The workshop was conducted on the need to stop “Child abuse” in Jammu and Kashmir talked about the need of parenting. The workshop also focused on stopping the child abuse, imparting sex education among children and lobbing for better legislation for their protection.
