State Congress leaders meet to energise cadre for upcoming polls

Senior functionaries of the Jammu and Kashmir state unit of Congress party held a meeting here Friday to energise its cares for the upcoming state assembly and parliamentary elections.

The meeting chaired by G. A. Mir, president of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) was attended by state functionaries and district presidents who were asked to gear up for ensuring a victory for the party.

“We need to be more enthusiastic and committed to reaching out to and serving people,” Mir told his party cadre.

“Congress party is an instrument of service to the people and it has always prioritized issues concerning people.”

Mir also addressed a meeting of Mahila Congress activists, recently councilors and corporators and emphasized steadfastness and service to the people at grass root level. The meeting was organized by Shamema Raina, state vice president Mahila Congress.

Taking a dig at the previous PDP-BJP coalition government, Mir said both the parties played emotional cards and misled the people from time to time for the sake of power and claimed the state’s people have rejected them.

Mir also cautioned people about designs of BJP and RSS, saying they were desperate after losing three heartland states to Congress party and could go to any extent for electoral gains.

It has to be countered and defeated in the larger interests of the people, Mir said, and claimed his party has always sacrificed power for people and that it will continue to remain committed to address the concerns of the people in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
