Strict restrictions ordered across Srinagar up to April 15

Following surfacing of two more coronavirus positive cases here, District Magistrate Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has ordered imposition of strict restrictions across the district.

The order issued under section 144 of CrPC states that thereshall be complete restrictions on public movement including private transportand operation of businesses and activities across the district up to April 15.

   

It states that only officials of essential servicesdepartments as designated and certified by their heads will be allowed to moveon the production of movement passes issued by the district magistrate, addingthe lowest minimum number of officials were being provided passes and allowedto move.

The order states that doctors, paramedical staff, ambulanceoperators and those officials assigned by the district disaster managementauthority on Covid-19 emergency response duty will be allowed to move on productionof valid identify cards.

The agencies concerned have been asked to ensure strictimplementation of the order and strict action against violators.

The order states the decision to impose strict restrictionshas been taken as a preventive measure in view of the increased number ofcoronavirus cases – now three in the district – and are aimed at containingspread of the infection.

Shahid appealed to people to cooperate with theadministration and ensure strict adherence to the order.

He said violation of the order would constitute criminaloffence and attract strict action under section 188 of IPC.

He said district administration has put in place a mechanismto ensure uninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services topeople. He said essential commodities will be home-delivered to residents aspart of this mechanism.

These restrictions will come into effect from midnighttonight and will remain enforced till April 15.
