The students on Tuesday held a protest here against the killing of a youth in alleged Army firing.
The slain youth Khalid Gaffar (22) was killed in alleged army firing last week. Students of Government Degree College (GDC) Kupwara gathered inside the campus and raised ‘Azadi’ slogans.
Later, students tried to take out a march outside the campus; however contingents of government forces prevented them from moving out angering them. The infuriated students resorted to stone throwing and clashed with the government forces, who responded with firing tear gas canisters.
Pertinently, authorities have already ordered a probe into the killing.
