Tarigami welcomes setting up of fact finding committees

CPI (M) leader, M Y Tarigami, on Saturday said that fact finding committees set up by Governor’s administration to probe irregularities and scams in various government organisations and departments is a step in right direction.

In a statement Tarigami said, “We expect that this time theprobe ordered by the Governor is taken to its logical conclusion and those whoare found guilty are punished. There is a need of thorough probe as there werereports of irregularities which we had agitated time and again. The fataldisease of corruption, bribery, nepotism and cronyism has plagued virtuallymost of the institutions. In the past when such probes were ordered, ultimatelynoting came out.”

He said, “The state administration run by the Governorshould tighten the noose around the officials involved in corrupt practices. There is a perception among people that from recruitment to transfers and fromallotting government works to providing basic amenities, everything is on sale.People want action on ground as there is need for immediate treatment to getrid of corruption and nepotism.”

“Lack of transparency in the administration means the menacehad assumed monstrous proportions. Administration must activate and empower theanti-graft bodies including State Accountability Commission (SAC), StateVigilance Commission (SVC) and State Information Commission (SIC) to bringaccountability and transparency,” Tarigami added.
