Confirming the development, Station House Officer (SHO) Magam said the teacher was arrested and case under section 509 of RPC was registered against him.

In a bizarre move, a government teacher on Wednesday was arrested by Police on charges of molestation and was lodged at Police station Magam.

The teacher was arrested after two girls from Government High School Kawoosa Khalisa in Narbal education zone approached the local police complaining that they were molested by their school teacher.

Confirming the development, Station House Officer (SHO) Magam said the teacher was arrested and case under section 509 of RPC was registered against him.

“Two girls from 8th and 9th class approached us with a complaint against the teacher. We acted on the student’s application and arrested the teacher,” a police official said.

“We will produce him before Court tomorrow and seek his remand,” he said.

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Budgam, Inderjeet Sharma said a detailed report has been sought from the concerned school head and departmental action as per rules will be initiated against the teacher.

“I have directed the School head to submit a detailed report of the incident which may be submitted by tomorrow,” CEO Budgam said.

He said the school authorities had called the parents of the students after latter complained of molestation by the school teacher. “Not parents, but some of the relatives came to the school and made hue and cry over the issue. Later they registered a complaint with Police,” he said.

He said the accused teacher was relieved by the school head after students complained against him. “The relieving order has been handed over to police as well. On the day of incident, the accused teacher had left the school in second half,” he said.
