Amid outrage over the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl in Sumbal, another minor girl has been allegedly raped in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, police said on Tuesday.
A police official said that the family of a girl, aged about 16 years approached them with a complaint on Sunday evening.
Senior superintendent of police Ganderbal, Mohammed Khalil Poswal told Greater Kashmir that they received a complaint on Sunday.
He said that the accused person who is a resident of Harran area and neighbour of the victim has been arrested and further investigations in the case have been taken up.
Massive protests have erupted across the Kashmir valley with people, mostly students, hitting the streets against the alleged rape of minor girl in Sumbal.
The protesters have been staging protests despite the authorities appealing for calm.
