Thousands attend last rites of Jaish militant in Pulwama

Thousands of mourners on Tuesday attended the last rites of Jaish-e-Mohammad militant who was killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Pinglena village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.

As the body of Hilal Ahmad Naikoo reached his home, thousands of mourners converged there to participate in his last rites.

   

Naikoo was killed along with his two associates in an 18-hour gunfight with the forces at his native Pinglena on Monday. 

A civilian, four army men including a major rank officer and an SOG man were also killed in the gun fight while as many as nine forces’ personnel suffered injuries.

Five back to back rounds of funerals were held for Rather when this was report was being filed.

Meanwhile, the slain civilian identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Pinglena has been interred in his ancestral grave yard amid pro-freedom slogans.

Eyewitness said that multiple rounds of funeral prayers were also held for Bhat.
