DAK president, DrNisarul Hassan said that the episodes of thrashing of doctors have become a routine and it is difficult for doctors to work in such hostile conditions.

Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) has condemned the thrashing of a doctor in LalDed Hospital here on Friday.

DAK spokesperson, DrRiyaz Daga in a statement said Dr Amir Iqbal was on emergency duty attending a patient when a male attendant barged into labour room during evening hours and physically assaulted him.

DAK president, DrNisarul Hassan said that the episodes of thrashing of doctors have become a routine and it is difficult for doctors to work in such hostile conditions.

“Government has failed to ensure safety and security of doctors in hospitals who are under constant fear which has adversely affected patient care. Public anger against messy health care is justified but it is the responsibility of government to provide facilities not doctors who bear the brunt, DrNisar added.

DAK demanded punishment to the accused so that “these incidents are not repeated and security of doctors is ensured for efficient patient care.”
