Three suspected militants arrested after brief shootout in Srinagar outskirts: Kashmir Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested three suspected militants after a  brief shootout near Noora Hospital on the outskirts of Srinagar city.

Quoting reports, news agency GNS reported that a car was signalled to stop by a naka party in Narbal. The persons travelling in the vehicle fired upon the naka party. The cops retaliated, triggering a brief shootout.

   

SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray said that Naka has been established following specific information about the movement of militants, said the report.

As the car passed through the area, the security forces asked them it to stop but the persons travelling in the vehicle opened fire which resulted into a brief shootout.

In the incident, one “militant activist” has sustained bullet injuries and other two persons were overpowered by the cops and apprehended.

The injured has been shifted to JVC hospital for treatment, it said.

A case has been registered and further investigation taken up, the SSP said.

“A brief exchange of fire (took place) on the outskirts of Srinagar city. Three suspected militants arrested. (One) among them one is injured. Arms and ammunition (were) recovered. Investigations (were) started,” said a police spokesman.
