Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole Monday said that a dawn of new development of J&K has started with the completion of three-tier Panchayati Raj System that had also realised the dream of Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘Gram Swaraj’.
Addressing the gathering at the oath ceremony of District Development Council (DDC) members at SKICC Srinagar, the divisional commissioner congratulated the elected members and said that the administration would extend all logistic support to them at all levels. He said that he hope the DDC members would resolve the developmental issues of the people at the grass root level.
The divisional commissioner said that from now onwards people need not approach divisional or district administrations for the purpose of basic amenities and could apprise their respective constituency members about their issues and subsequently the DDC members would facilitate them in fulfilling all their developmental needs.
Regarding the availability of funds to the District Developmental Councils, he said that the annual budget of districts from next financial year would be prepared and decided by the DDC members.
Meanwhile, the divisional commissioner distributed mementos among the DDC members of district Srinagar, who took oath during the event.
