Trader’s body found in Handwara

The body of a 42-year-old person a trader and Apni Party worker Muhammad Amin Tantary was recovered from near Jamia Jadeed in Handwara town on Saturday, Police said.

Tantray, son of Abdul Jabbar Tantary of Umerabad Khanabal Handwara, had left home on Thursday when someone called him on phone at about 7 pm following which he was missing, his family members said.

   

“We called him after Isha prayers. He told us to take dinner and that he would return shortly. When he did not return, we kept calling his number but to no avail,” one of Tantray’s brothers said.

“We filed a missing report in Police Station Handwara on Friday evening and today we came across the body of our elder brother,” another brother of Tantray said.

Meanwhile, entire Handwara town witnessed shutdown to mourn the death of Tantray.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, Superintendent of Police Handwara G V Sundeep said that Tantray’s postmortem report would be received in a week’s time and after that Police would reach at a conclusion whether he had died of natural cause or had been murdered.

Tantary is survived by his wife and three minor children.
