Traders hold silent protest against NIA summons to Mirwaiz, ban on Jamaat

Members of various trade bodies on Friday staged a protest at Lal Chowk here against the summons sent by the National Investigating Agency to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and authorities imposing ban on Jamaat-e-Islami. 

Traders were holding placards that read “Stop harassment ofour leaders”, “Stop interference in our religious affairs”, “NIA summons toMirwaiz not acceptable.”

   

The members of KTMF, Beopar Mandal, KCCI, FCIK, KTMF (R)participated in the protest.

The traders also expressed resentment over authoritiesimposing ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and slapping of PSA on Jamiat Ahal-e-hadeeschief Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri. “We have gathered here to protest against continuousharassment of our leadership and arrest of religious leaders, this is directinterference into our religious affairs,” said Sajad Gul, coordinator KashmirInc.

“Banning of Jamat-e-Islami and slapping PSAs on religiousleaders is unacceptable. Organizations like Jamaat are socio-religiousorganisations that work for the betterment of society,” he said.
