Transporters’ strike against imposition of toll tax affects life in south Kashmir

Public life in south Kashmir was thrown out of gear onTuesday in view of shutdown called by the transporters union against theimposition of toll tax.

The protesting transporters are seeking exemption of tolltax for Kashmir vehicles at Kai-Chachkoot toll plaza near Awantipora in Pulwamadistrict.

   

Reports said that due to the transporters strike the localsfaced tremendous hardships in reaching their respective offices. 

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has assured thatthe locals will be exempted from tax and said that the administration hasalready taken up the matter with the central government but due to ongoingelection process that order of tax revocation has got delayed.
