TRC newest rabbit out of Farooq Abdullah’s cap: Akhter

Senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Naeem Akhter  on Saturday termed the demand of National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah for truth and reconciliation commission as surprising.

In a statement here Akhter said that “it is an irony that the party which is responsible for all the mess state has witnessed since independence is demanding the commission.”

He said, “Duplicity of National Conference could be gauged by the fact that what Farooq Abdullah is demanding at present was demanded with the same words and phrases by his son Omar Abdullah in the year 2011 when he was state’s Chief Minister.  At present, when elections are near, Farooq Abdullah is reincarnating the same old demand with a sole objective to hoodwink people. As autonomy slogan has outlived its shelf-life, NC, out of frustration is sometimes demanding construction of Ram Temple and sometimes making other bizarre claims. The demand for truth and reconciliation commission is in actual the newest rabbit out of Farooq sahib’s cap,” Akhtar said.

‘NC WILL ALWAYS BE KNOWN FOR BETRAYAL’

Meanwhile, another PDP leader Khurshid Alam has ridiculed the recent statement of NC general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar that PDP betrayed  “people’s mandate.”

In  statement her Alam said that “if PDP had betrayed people’s mandate why did National Conference recently offered unconditional support to the PDP to form the government.”

“The problem is that the NC still believes that it can hoodwink people as it used to in late 80s.  Sagar sahib has probably forgotten that the trend of assassinating people’s character by singing street songs, leveling baseless allegations and making bizarre claims is gone forever. The youth of today are well aware about the doings of their leadership, their actions and what lies inside the closets. NC would do better if it reads what is written on the wall in bold letters,” he added.

‘WORSENING POWER SCENARIO  WORRISOME’

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) general secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura on Saturday  expressed serious concern over worsening power scenario  in Kashmir.

In a statement here Hanjur said that the paucity of power and water in several areas of central Kashmir including Char-e-Sharif are making people suffer.

Hanjura also expressed serious concern over the vandalizing of the house of its Kanir Chadoora halqa president Manzoor Ahmad Mir allegedly  by the army on the intervening night of Jan 11 and 12.

He alleged that the army besides vandalizing Mir house also thrashed his family members and his sons too were mercilessly beaten to pulp without any reason. “This reign of terror must end as it goes contrary to the claims of the Governor Malik and is falsifying his claims of peace and tranquility in the state,” Hanjura said.
