Two CRPF men killed in Achabal militant attack; LeT claims responsibility

Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and a trooper and a civilian injured after militants attacked a force party at Achabal in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.

A police spokesman said that the vehicle-borne militants fired upon a CRPF party at Achabal. In the attack, three paramilitary troopers and a shopkeeper sustained bullet wounds and were taken to nearby Achabal hospital for treatment where two of them succumbed.

   

One of the slain was identified as ASI ML Meena, reported GNS news agency. The injured civilian has been identified as Ghulam Rasool.

Soon after the attack, forces cordoned off the area to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit has claimed the responsibility of the attack, reported GNS news agency.
