Two militants killed as fresh gunfight breaks out in Bandipora forests

Two more militants were killed after a gunfight broke out during the ongoing forces’ operation launched in Panar forest area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district ten days ago.

Quoting official sources, GNS news agency reported that a fresh gunfight broke out between the militants and the joint team of army’s 14 RR, 22 RR and Para Commandos in the dense forest area of Panar today morning.

   

A police officer confirmed the killing of two militants in the operation. On June 14, two militants and an army soldier were killed in the operation.

The officer had said that six soldiers including an officer have been injured so far in the ongoing operation.

The operation was launched on June 9 when the militants and the government forces exchanged brief gunfire in Raynar forests adjacent to Panar area. 

The official said that the joint team of forces and militants exchanged intermittent firing several times.

At least 15 militants were believed to be hiding in the forest area.
