Two militants killed in brief shootout in north Kashmir’s Baramulla

Two militants were killed in a brief shootout with the government forces in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.

A top police officer said that the miltants travelling in a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) were signalled to stop at a naka at Kralhaar. 

   

He said the militants opened fire on a naka party. In retaliation, both the militants were killed, he said.

“An AK series rife, magazine, UBGL, two Chinese pistol, six magazines, three grenades and two UBGL grenades were recovered from the possession of slain militants,” said the official.

He said a case FIR No 176/2008 was registered at Police Station Baramulla and investigation was taken up. 

“The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and vehicle has been seized,” he said.
