Two youth injured after forces open fire in Kulgam

Two minor youth were wounded on Wednesday after government forces allegedly opened fire on the protesting locals in Kuger area of south Kashmir’s district Kulgam.

Reports said that forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Kuger area of the district. However, the locals tried to disrupt the searches by pelting the forces with stones.

   

Local alleged that the forces opened fire on the protesters, resulting  in injuries to two youth.

The injured were indentified as Suhail Nazir Bhat (18) son of Nazir Ahmed and Faizan Ahmad, son of Yaqoob Ahmed.

A local news gathering agency GNS said that Faizan has received bullet injury in his right shoulder while Suhail had a bullet wound in the left thigh.

The injured youth have been referred to Bone and Joints Hospital in Barzulla, Srinagar for specialized treatment.

GNS report quoted SSP Kulgam, Gurinderpal Singh, as saying that 

A petrol bomb was hurled on the joint team of army and police and it hit a cowshed which caught fire, GNS quoted  SSP Kulgam, Gurinderpal Singh as having said. “We have registered a case in this regard.”

“We have reports about pellet and not bullet injuries,” he said.
