Understand core concepts, don’t cram: Administrative Secy School Edu Deptt tells students

Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department Biswajit Kumar Singh Thursday advised the students to understand the basic concepts of their subjects rather than cramming for exams.

Singh visited various schools of Srinagar to take stock of the arrangements made by the schools to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and interacted with the students in various schools in Srinagar.

   

He visited the schools a day after Greater Kashmir reported about the surge in the COVID-19 positive cases being reported from schools in Srinagar.

Singh was accompanied by the Director School Education Kashmir Muhammad Younis Malik.

During his visit, he interacted with students and teachers inside the classrooms and expressed his satisfaction over the COVID-19 precautionary measures being put in place by all the schools.

The students were provided hand sanitisers, face masks, hand wash facility and proper care was observed to maintain social distancing among the students.

Singh interacted with the students of Kothi Bagh Girls Higher Secondary School and SP Higher Secondary School and advised them to focus on understanding the basic concepts rather than cramming for exams.

“The students should learn by heart and understand the logic of any lesson instead of rote learning and cramming for examinations,” he said advising the students.

During the interaction, Malik also gave an overview of the initiatives taken by the directorate during the COVID-19 pandemic and informed Singh about the future plans chalked out by the directorate for the betterment of the education sector in Kashmir.

During their interaction with Singh and Malik, the students expressed their happiness to be back in their classrooms for physical classes.

The students also shared their experiences of attending online classes and community classes and expressed their gratitude to the department for making proper academic arrangements as well as for their counseling during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Additional Secretary (Law), School Education Department and other officers of the department also accompanied Singh during his visit to the schools.
