Panic gripped Badergund area of Ganderbal district on Tuesday when an unexploded grenade was spotted by some locals who immediately informed police. The grenade was later defused by the bomb disposal squad.
Eyewitnesses said that there were children playing in the field at the same spot where the grenade was found.
“It could have been a tragedy if the children had fiddled with” they said.
However luckily, someone noticed it and informed police and the tragedy was averted.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ganderbal Mohammed Khalil Poswal told Greater Kashmir that the grenade that was destroyed without causing any damage.
