Union Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Rahul Bhatnagar today visited district Budgam and toured blocks Khansaheb and Parnewa.
He was accompanied by Secretary Rural Development J&KSheetal Nanda, Director Rural Development Department Kashmir Qazi Sarwar, ACDBudgam Waseem Raja , SDM Khansaheb and BDOs of concerned blocks.
The visiting officer was given a warm welcome by theSarpanchs and Panchs of blocks Khansaheb and Parnewa, with whom he heldinteractive sessions and shared his ideas about Panchayati Raj Instruction, anofficial handout said.
During the interaction, the PRIs appraised him about variousissues pertaining to their respective Panchayat halqas and the problems facedby them.
The PRIs appreciated the role of Rural Developmentdepartment in the progress of the rural areas.
The Secretary also held interaction with the Self helpgroups framed by ‘National Rural Livelihood Mission’ under the scheme”Umeed”.
He appreciated the efforts of the department which hasresulted in economic empowerment of the rural women.
The visiting officer also toured the different areas of thedistrict and inspected various works under MGNREGA, 14th FC, CD Panchayat andother schemes of Rural Development department.
