Valley Citizens’ Council demands ban on poplars, polythene

Valley Citizens’ Council (VCC) on Thursday demanded immediate ban on the plantation of the poplar trees terming them harmful for human beings.

The council also demanded that steps should be taken to cutdown these trees “which are posing health threat particularly to the childrenand the aged.”

   

The council appealed to the state administration to lookinto this issue particularly when there are “clear directions” from the HighCourt on such trees.

“We are receiving number of phone calls from differentsides regarding the pollen allergy, which affects mostly the newborn, schoolgoing children and elderly people,” Imdad Saqi, General Secretary VCCsaid.

“There are directions from the High Court regardingcutting of these trees. “We also demand ban on polythene,” he said.
