Vice-Chancellors of University of Kashmir and Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission called on Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday, an official spokesman said.

Vice-Chancellor University of Kashmir, Prof Talat Ahmad, ,met Governor Malik, who is also the Chancellor of the University, and briefedhim about various issues of academic and administrative importance relating to theUniversity.
The Governor congratulated the Vice- Chancellor on theUniversity obtaining A+ accreditation Grade from National Assessment andAccreditation Council (NAAC). Besides, the Governor advised Prof. Ahmad tobring examination reforms on priority basis, restore the academic schedule andensure more productive academic and research activities.
The V-C informed Governor that in order to streamline theacademic calendar and to ensure timely admission of students to various PostGraduate programmes, the admission test will be held twice in a year till theacademic schedule is restored. He informed that various innovative measures arealso underway to make examination services more efficient. The Governor urged V-C to ensure thatexamination sub offices for Ladakh region are made to work efficiently.
The V-C briefed Governor on major internationalcollaborative research projects earned by the University with countries viz US,Canada, Finland and Germany in areas such as biodiversity, plate tectonics, geologyand climate change.

Prof Mushtaq A Siddiqi, Vice Chancellor, Islamic Universityof Science and Technology (IUST) met Governor Satya Pal Malik, Chancellor ofthe University, and briefed Governorabout various issues relating to the academic and administrative importance andthe initiatives undertaken by the University to develop it as a centre ofquality teaching and research activities.
Further, the present status of efforts underway to fillvacancies in Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department and the road map beingprepared to expedite recruitment of Assistant Professors in Higher Educationwas also discussed.
Governor emphasised the high importance of the Commissionmaintaining unimpeachable standards and urged the Chairman to ensure timelyconduct of exams and interviews and selection of candidates with greatertransparency and efficiency.
