A chilling video of child abuse has surfaced on social media in which a minor boy with violence marks all over his body has accused his uncle of severely torturing him.
The victim, aged around 10, originally hailing from Warwan, Kishtiwar is presently residing at Seer area of Anantnag with his parents and the uncle who is a policeman.
A neighbor of the victim, who has shot the video, claimed the victim’s uncle tortured him with hot iron on his buttocks and other body parts.
“He then locked up his nephew at his house for 10 days while his father, who is a laborer was out on work “the neighbor is heard saying in the purported video.
According to the neighbor, the child narrated him the heart-wrenching incident after he spotted the violence marks on his body.
“The uncle beat me up on the pretext that I keep on roaming around,” the visibly frightened child says in the video, in a choked voice.
In a separate video, the mother of the child however claimed she beat up his son. “I beat him up because he has fallen into bad company,” the mother says.
The uncle of the victim accused the neighbor of trying to frame him. “We had a land dispute with him and to malign my image he conspired against us and shot this video,” said the Uncle. He instead blamed him (neighbor) for the assault on his nephew.
Chairperson, Child Protection Welfare Committee (CPWC) Anantnag, Tawhida Makhdoomi said they have taken cognizance of the incident.
“Our team has located the child and he is presently in the custody of local Auqaf committee.” she said.
Makhdoomi said they will take the victim in their custody and facilitate his medical treatment. The CPWC has appealed people not to make photographs and videos of the minor victim viral.
