Residents of Warpora and its surrounding localities staged a protest against PHE department over shortage of drinking water in their area for a week.
Protesters took to streets and blocked Sopore-Bandipora roadleaving vehicles stranded. They said that people of the area were facinghardships in this summer heat as taps were lying dry.
The protesters while shouting anti-government slogans saidthe PHE department was least bothered despite being approached many timesregarding the issue.
A police team reached the spot and pacified the protestersby assuring them to take up their grievances with the authorities.
Officials in PHE department said that the main cause ofwater shortage in the area is due to fluctuation in electricity.
