Widespread policy myopia ailing every sector in J&K: NC

National Conference (NC) General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar Monday said that the widespread policy myopia of the government towards Jammu and Kashmir had increased the suffering of the people.

A statement of NC issued here quoted Sagar while interacting with a number of delegations visiting him at the party’s Nawai Subh headquarters here as saying that the government had been shouting that everything was hunky dory in J&K but the ground situation was contrary to the high-pitched bravado created by the ruling dispensation.

“In a bid to secure political hold over the region, Government of India (GoI) has lost sight of issues suffered by the people in the form of governance deficit, administrative inertia and sky-scraping rate of unemployment. The picture on the front of security is even worse. The steep increase in the deaths of security personnel, targeted killings of civilians and recurring encounters explains it all,” Sagar said. “There is no semblance of peace, good governance in this part of the world.  The region has been relegated into the hands of unrelated bureaucracy, which has no idea about the local issues. The defining feature of the government is the soaring household income, increasing employment, and administrative inertia.”
