Woman found hanging at her in-law’s house in Uri

A woman was found hanging at her husband’s house under mysterious circumstances in a remote village of border town of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district

Shahida Bano, 22, a resident of Kamalkote was found hangingfrom the ceiling of her bedroom on Saturday. She was married just 15 months agoin Jhula village of Uri.

   

He parents alleged that Bano was often harassed by herin-laws. “On Saturday morning we received a call from one of the relative ofher in-laws that she has committed suicide. When we reached the village no onefrom her in-laws was present at home” said Muhammad Sabir, father of thedeceased. Bano’s husband is working in Hydrabad, according to Sabir. The Uripolice have registered a case in the incident. “We have started investigationand are waiting for the autopsy report. We have also detained a few membersfrom her (Bano) in-laws side for questioning. The husband of the deceased womanhas left Hydrabad for home” said SDPO Uri, Mehraj-UD-Din.

He said police was investigating “every angle” in theincident including case of domestic violence. He said the deceased had returnedfrom her parents’ home just a day before her death.

“We are hopeful of cracking the case in next few days” saidthe SDPO.
