Won’t allow Delhi to change J&K’s demography: Mirwaiz

Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said that people of Jammu and Kashmir won’t allow New Delhi to change the demography of the state.

Mirwaiz while addressing Friday congregation at historic Jamia Masjid in old city here said that “people of J&K will resist tooth and nail any move aimed at changing the demographic composition of the state, which this time is being done by New Delhi through the judicial route by challenging the state subject law in the Supreme Court of India,”

   

He said that changing state subject laws would have a direct bearing on the “disputed nature” of the state and “our movement for self determination.”

Mirwaiz said leadership is keenly watching with concern and would lead the people’s agitation if any move to roll back these provisions is allowed. He said people also have to remain alert and updated on these developments.

Mirwaiz said that since the case regarding Article 35 A is coming up for hearing soon Joint Resistance Leadership is in touch with all on the matter and is looking at the form of protests that would be observed against it and people will be informed on it very soon.

Mirwiaz also slammed the authorities for booking three youth of Bandipora Tauseef Lone, Abdul Samad and Suhail Parray under PSA and shifting them to Kotbalwal prison in Jammu. “Such injustices and coercion by the authoritarian state are pushing our pushing youth to take up arms and when the same youth are killed in gunfights, the state hails these killings terming it as “badi kamyabi” (big success).”
