Working to forge unity with other groups: Hurriyat (M)

The conglomerate held a joint meeting of its Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee at its Rajbagh headquarters.

Hurriyat Conference (M)  on Friday said efforts are on to forge unity with different separatist groups to various issues confronting people of Jammu and Kashmir and the ongoing movement for right to self-determination.

The conglomerate held a joint meeting of its Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee at its Rajbagh headquarters.

The meeting chaired by the conglomerate’s former chairman and senior leader  Prof Abdul Gani Bhat expressed satisfaction over working of its two member committee formed  to contact separatists groups, members of legal fraternity and civil society groups to adopt a uniform approach on resistance movement related issues.

"The committe will make all possible efforts to bring about unity of purpose and joint approach in the path of resistance among all the pro-movement groups and elements to take the movement forward in order to achieve the cherished goal of the resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people," the Hurriyat (M) spokesman said in a statement.

Hurriyat (M) had last month decided to launch joint resistance in the backdrop of recommendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs to grant Jammu & Kashmir Permanent Resident (State Subject) status to refugees from erstwhile West Pakistan. The two-member Committee, which was formed by Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on January 15, has met with the representatives of all separatists groups including Hurriyat Conference (G) besides civil society members and legal experts.
