Yasin Malik condemns slapping of PSA on Zahoor Butt

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has strongly condemned the slapping of second consecutive public safety act (PSA) on Front incarcerated leader Zahoor Ahmad Butt and his shifting Anantnag sub-jail.

“High court had recently quashed his PSA order and he was shifted to Kupwara jail from Kot-balwal from where he has again been slapped PSA,” a JKLF spokesman said  in a statement.

“We strongly condemn this state repression.  Using laws to prolong incarceration of political leaders and activists is most tyrannical,” the spokesman quoted Malik as having said.

Meanwhile, Yasin Malik has expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Abdul Ahad Lone, father of senior JKLF member Fayaz Ahmad Lone of Kaw Mohala Khanyar.

A delegation of JKLF leaders led by Noor Muhammad Kalwal today visited the residence of deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. They, while praying for the heavenly abode of the deceased,  also prayed for the Sabr-i-Jamil of the bereaved family.

“Meanwhile, JKLF has paid rich tributes to victims of Haigam carnage on their anniversary. On February 16, 2001, forces opened fire on peaceful protesters who were protesting against the custodial killing of JKLF leader Jalil Ahmad Shah. At least five persons were killed in the firing incident,” the spokesman said.
