Youth critically injured during clashes in Shopian village

A youth was critically injured during intense clashes between protesters and the government forces at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

Reports said that Fayaz Ahmad, a resident of Poterwal village, received a bullet in his abdomen during clashes that broke out while a cordon and search operation was in progress in Tangwani-Tuckroo village.

   

They said that the youth took to streets soon after forces launched the anti-militant operation.

“the forces opened fire as the clashes intensified, leaving a youth injured,” said a witness. He said that army men opened fire after their Casper vehicles was pelted with atones.

Ahmad was shifted to district hospital Pulwama where from he was referred to SMHS hospital for specialised treatment, they said.

The search operation was underway when  the reports last came.
