Youth planning to join militancy held in Ganderbal: Police

Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a youth from Ganderbal area who was planning to join militant rank.

Police said the youth hailing from Srinagar area was apprehended from Ganderbal district.

“Police through reliable sources got the information about the concerted attempts to lure and recruit youth into militancy,” said a police official.

He said that police followed the information and apprehended a youth from Qamaria chowk Ganderbal area. “During the questioning it came to fore that he was planning to join militant ranks.”

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Fayaz Ahmed Lone said the youth hails from Rainawari area in Srinagar. “He was in touch with some militants in PaK through social media and other means and was planning to join them. However, we apprehended him before. The youth has been handed over to his parents after proper counseling,” the SSP said. 

Meanwhile, in a statement, police said that the “youth planned to join Zakir Musa's group (Ansar Gazwat ul hind).”
