An event on ‘Yuwa Sahitya’ was held at the University of Kashmir (KU) on Saturday.
The event was organised by the Department of Linguistics,KU, in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
According to the organisers of the event the aim of theprogram was to provide a platform to the young writers of Kashmiri to presenttheir literature.
Dr Aziz Hajni, Convenor, Sahitya Akademi, presented thewelcome address. In his address , he said, “Literature produced in contemporarytimes is sensationalist and exaggerated. We see a ray of hope in our younggeneration to change this narrative and to preserve our language and culture.”
He also said that in collaboration with the department moreevents would be organised.
Other distinguished guests present on the occasion includedDr Sadaf Munshi, Chairperson of Linguistics Department, University of NorthTexas, Prof Bashar Bashir and Prof Farooq Fayaz.
Prof Aejaz MuhammadSheikh, Head Department of Linguistics presented vote of thanks on theoccasion.
