Chairman and chief executive councilor, LAHDC Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal (JTN) laid the foundation stone of newly created Government Degree College at Khaltsi on Monday.
Addressing a gathering, JTN on behalf of LAHDC greeted the people of Shaam region for opening a Degree College at Khaltsi and said that this will besides strengthening the higher education capability in the region would also play a vital role in making a stable, prosperous and learned Ladakh that was dreamed by our most beloved leader late Kushok Bakula Rinpochey.
Considering the education as a driving force for bringing about reforms in the society, the present LAHDC is endeavoring to expand the ambit of education by re-opening the sick Govt schools in rural pockets, JTN urged upon the people to change their mind set by sending all their children to government schools on the ground that government teachers are comparatively more qualified and capable of shaping up their children.
The CEC said that Degree College Khaltsi will be functioning as a feeding institution of Ladakh University and to achieve its core purpose, LAHDC would put all its efforts to run this college in letter and spirit. He said Govt. has sanctioned Rs: one crore to initiate the preliminary infrastructure works of this college, and to ensure timely progress in this direction, LAHDC has already provided 87 kanals of land at Khaltsi and gave assurance to provide more land as per the need.
