Day observed in Leh district

The 9th National Voters Day was observed in Leh today with great enthusiasm with huge participation of young voters at New Ice Hockey Stadium under the chairmanship of DC/ District Election Officer, Leh Avny Lavasa. 

Highlighting the importance of the Day, District Election Officer (DEO), Leh said that the main objective is to encourage the voters to participate enthusiastically in the democratic process especially the young voters.

   

She appealed to the voters to compulsorily use their voting rights and also become ambassadors to mobilize their family members, relatives and neighbors to become an important part of our democratic system.

Aimed at facilitating the voters, the Election Commission of India has taken several initiatives that include creation of a Helpline No: 1950, DEO said and added that voters can obtain any kind of information and clarification on this number with relate to elections.

She said that VV PAT is a new device attached to the EVM which is to be introduced during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and as such she laid emphasis upon the voters to make themselves fully educated in operating the voting machines.

Greeting the new voters as well as other voters on this occasion, Anvy Lavasa said that every single vote is very important and crucial to further strengthen the foundation of our democratic system and therefore each and every voter must exercise their voting franchise.

A demonstration on voters’ pledge ceremony by upholding the democratic traditions and dignity of the country through free, fair and peaceful elections was also conducted on the occasion, an official statement said.

On this occasion live demonstration on handling EVM and VV Pat was given by the Master Trainers which was attended by huge number of young voters.
