Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary on Saturday evening paid a visit to Bal Ashram Kargil.
Superintendent of Police, Dr Vinod Kumar, district social welfare officer Aga Syed Jamal and others accompanied the DC during the tour.
During his visit, DC interacted with the inmates of the Bal Ashram and took stock of the facilities being provided to them. He also inquired about the needs and requirements of the students which included face-lifting of the Bal Ashram building, electricity repair and fittings, augmentation of water facilities, minor repairs and other requirements.
The DC gave on spot directions to the District Social Welfare Officer and Accounts Officer to ensure provision of the required facilities at the Bal Ashram within a month. He said that a meeting of the concerned officers including the Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineer R&B and other officers would be convened soon in this regard so that appropriate steps are taken to meet the requirements well in time.
Meanwhile, the DC also directed the concerned to ensure proper cleanliness and better facilities to the inmates. He also inquired about the functioning of hostel mess and directed the hostel administration for maintaining cleanliness in and around the hostel besides serving proper diet to the inmates.
