Er Tashi inaugurates free language script course

Executive Councilor for Tourism and Culture Er Punchoq Tashi today inaugurated week-long free basic course on Purgi/Balti/Bhoti/Ladakhi script E-Gay here at Language Center.

The course is organized by LAHDC Kargil in collaboration with the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS) Leh.

   

Director CIBS Prof Konchoq Wangdu, Research Officer CIBS Dr Kunchok Rigzin and Course Coordinator and Copy Editor RNU, AIR, Kargil Anayat Ali were present on the occasion.

The Executive Councillor in his address, while appreciating the initiative of CIBS for holding the free script course at Kargil expressed optimism that it will go a long way in enlightening the speakers of Purgi and Balti languages residing in Kargil about the E-Gay script which is the actual script of their mother tongue.

Er Tashi said that it is through language that the identity of an individual and a community is ascertained and script is the medium to preserve and promote it in its true essence and to pass on to the posterity.

The EC also called upon the participants to show keen enthusiasm and interest in different sessions of the course so that they are able to acquire as much as knowledge on the scripting patterns of E-Gay.

Director CIBS Prof Konchoq Wangdu in his address spoke about the initiatives of CIBS towards the promotion and preservation of the E-gay script. He highlighted the importance of mother tongue and vernacular expressions in imparting knowledge in any field.
