First-ever plantation drive held at KU’s Kargil campus

The first-ever plantation drive was held at the Kargil campus of the University of Kashmir.

The day-long drive was led by Dr MS Sumbli, rector, Kargilcampus, and attended by teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and students ofthe institution.

   

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sumbli said the plantationdrive was aimed at raising awareness about the need to plant more trees forgreener and cleaner environs.

Several tree saplings were planted on the occasion.

Dr Sumbli said academic institutions have a greater role toplay in educating the society about protection of environment.

He thanked faculty, officials and students of the campus fortheir active participation in the plantation drive. Such activities wouldcontinue in the campus in future as well, Dr Sumbli said.
