The 9-day Dumra Khadot Yulsum Yarchos Chenmo was concluded with religious fervor at Khyungru Drigung Kagyut Tongdol-phug gonpa, Khyungru Nubra on Tuesday.
Governor Satya Pal Malik was the chief guest on the occasion, according to an official spokesperson. This 7th edition of the Buddhist Council was chaired by Chesang Rinpochey.
Governor on the occasion expressed his happiness to be a part of this Buddhist Council and observed that Lord Buddha has taught human beings to always tread path of righteousness, to stay away from the vices of greed and hatred, to respect life and not to harm any living being. He added that it were the virtues of tolerance and non violence propagated by Him which has made Buddhism, the most peaceful religion on this earth. He noted that the every religion has preached respect for other religions and if we adopt our religious tenets in true letter and spirit then there will be no conflicts in the world.
Governor assured that his Administration will make all possible efforts to meet the aspirations of people Ladakh. He directed Avny Lavasa, Deputy Commissioner, Leh, to identify land for building Girls Hostel at Diskit and prepare DPR for flood management works required to be done in Nubra. He also assured for early redressal of issues relating to the telecom connectivity in the area.
