Governor meets several delegations in Leh

Governor Satya Pal Malik who is on a three day tour to Ladakh, met with several delegations in Leh today.

A delegation of Councillors of LAHDC, Leh, lead jointly byGyal P. Wangyal Deputy Chairman LAHDC and Chering Dorjey, MLC, presented amemorandum to the Governor, an official handout said.

   

The delegation demanded expediting the process of release ofpending wages and regularization of daily rated workers and casual labours ofPWD circle, Leh; raised the long pending demand for grant of Special DutyAllowance (SDA) of 10% in favour of state government employees serving in themost difficult and inhospitable environment of Ladakh region and also forrestoration of reservation in promotion to SC/ST government employees.

The delegation also demanded sanctioning of directorates andpositioning of staff in Ladakh Division; creation of separate Hydraulic PWDCircle for Leh; sanctioning of three more Hydraulic Special Sub Divisions forLeh; 10% hike in CAPEX Budget in favour of Leh district; expedite functioningof already sanctioned Nubra Development Authority; immediate functioning ofLadakh University and Degree College, Khaltsi; permanent restoration of flooddamaged infrastructure etc.

A student delegation represented by Presidents of Ladakhistudents’ unions in Delhi, Jammu, Chandigarh and EJM College Leh demanded fortimely examination and result declaration of colleges in Leh; conduct of LAHDCelection in summer months so that they can use their right to vote; requestedfor a full fledged University in Ladakh with professional courses and otherfacilities; establishing centres for competitive exams mainly for UPSCexaminations in Ladakh; deputing Nodal Officers for local students outsideLadakh; regulating air fares etc.

The delegation of All Ladakh Tour Operator Associationdemanded for its participation in international trade fairs; allow night stayat newly opened trekking routes, open new peaks in restricted areas fortrekking and climbing. The Hoteliers requested for relaxation in GST and innerline permit.

Delegations of Ladakh Buddhist Association, Ladakh GonpaAssociation, Anjuman Immamia and Anjuman Moin-ul Islam presented memorandums toGovernor requesting him for redressal of their problems and demands.

A delegation representing Changthang region also submitted amemorandum demanding separate district for Changthang.

A delegation of State Government Employees AssociationLadakh presented its long pending demand for sanctioning 10% SDA andreservation in promotion to SC/ST government employees.

The Governor assured all the delegations to look into thematters at the earliest possible.
