‘Open Kargil -Skardu road in Ladakh region’

‘People’s Forum for Peace Across LoC’ in collaboration with Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council on Wednesday organised a round table conference to discuss their demand of opening Kargil-Skardu road. 

During the conference various speakers, intellectuals and representatives of influential religious organizations of Kargil Anjuman Jamiyat Ullama and Imam Khomeni Memorial Trust Kargil expressed their views regarding the importance of the opening of Kargil Skardu and Turtuk Khapolu roads in Ladakh region.

   

The Speakers highlighted the various problems related to divided families on both side of the LoC who were yearning to meet their relatives for past 70 years.

During the conference it has been revealed that there are more than 12,000 divided families living in Ladakh Region. The speakers also suggested that LAHDC should take some initiatives to collect data of these divided families and should make it authentic.

They asked the LAHDC to approach the human rights organisations and make them aware about this humanitarian crisis in Ladakh and Baltistan region.
