Plantation drive held at KU’s Leh campus

A plantation drive was organised at the Leh campus of the University of Kashmir.

The day-long drive, organised by the rector Leh campus incollaboration with the department of forests, was held to educate variousstakeholders about the importance of plantation and the need to conserveforests and other natural resources.

   

The drive was inaugurated by senior superintendent of policeLeh, Sargun Shukla, IPS, who was the chief guest on the occasion.

In her address, Shukla highlighted the importance ofplantation and underscored the pressing need to conserve natural resources forfuture generations.

Rector Leh campus Prof. Farooq Ahmed Khan highlighted the aimsand objectives of the programme and assured that such events would continue atthe Leh campus in future.

He said educational institutions have a far greater role toplay than anyone else in undertaking measures to protect forests and naturalresources. Prof Khan thanked Shukla and Harpeet Kaur, DFO, for collaboratingwith the satellite campus Leh and making the programme successful.
