To mark the “World Soil Day” an awareness programme on soil health for food security, health ecosystem and human well-being was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kargil-1 SKUAST-Kashmir here on Wednesday, organisers said in a statement.
They said the programme was chair by Councilor Er Kacho Feroz Ahmad on behalf of Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil due to his heath issue. Officers and extension functionaries from agriculture and horticulture and forestry department besides77 farmers from different village of Kargil also participated in the event.
The chief guest congratulated the KVK teams for successfully organizing this important day and he instructed to make the event more fruitful by planning such event a month before so that all the progressive farmer across the district can join and share their experience. He stressed on the audiences to make an agriculture policy and beneficiaries to uplift the socio-economic status of farmers. In the end the farmers also visited the KVK farm where off season vegetable and high density orchardwere witnessed.
