24-year-old woman among two die in Kashmir, J&K COVID-19 toll 162

Two more COVID-19 patients, including a young woman from Anantnag died on Saturday, taking the total number of novel Coronavirus deaths in J&K to 162.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two patients who died include a 24-year-old woman from Hakura, Anantnag and a 77-year-old man from Hyderpora, Srinagar.

   

The officials said that the young woman died at the SMHS hospital while the elderly man from Srinagar died at SKIMS. 

Dr. Nazir Chaoudhary, medical superintendent at SMHS the woman from Anantnag who was admitted on 03 July was very sick and was suffering from hypertension and other ailments. “She died at SMHS late Friday night.” 

He said that the patient was referred from LD hospital after she had a caesarean delivery and the patient died due to brain hemorrhage while her baby is fine. 

Dr. Farooq Jan, medical superintendent at SKIMS told KNO that the elderly man from Hyderpora, Srinagar was very sick and was on a ventilator in the IDB block and died at around 7:45 am.

“Patient was a case of Carcinoma Urinary Bladder and was admitted with Bilateral pneumonia with ARDS,” he said. 

With two more deaths, the fatality count in J&K due to COVID-19 has reached 162, including 147 from Kashmir division and 15 from Jammu division.
