An army man committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle late Thursday night in this border town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.
A police official identified the deceased as Rakshit Kumar (22) resident of Samba district in Jammu region. He belonged to Army’s 2 JAKLI regiment and shot himself with his service rifle at JACK 1 post of sub sector Gohallan village of Uri.
Soon after the incident, his colleagues rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood. “He was immediately taken to sub-district hospital (SDH) Uri where his autopsy is under process,” he said.
A case has been registered in this regard and further investigation has been taken up.
