BDO Tulail, 48, collapses on duty, dies under mysterious circumstances in north Kashmir's Gurez

"The cause of death is being assertained."

An officer of Rural Development  Department (RDD) on Friday died due to “unknown circumstances” in the frontier valley of Gurez’s Tulail Tehsil while on duty in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.


An official identified as Mohammad Saleem Darzi, 48 posted at Tulail as Block development officer, originally hailing from Aachbal Anantnag, collapsed while he was readying for ablution to offer Friday prayers during the break.

Saleem was declared brought dead at a nearby health facility, said the official.

BMO Hajin, Doctor Tahira said the body has been brought to SDH Gurez for postmortem to determine the circumstances under which he has died.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Owais Ahmad while expressing shock over the demise of  the officer said that efforts are on to bring the body from Gurez valley as soon as the weather improves. “I am in touch with  the Divisional Commissioner also so that a special chopper is arranged for carrying the body,” he added.

He said the cause of death is being assertained.
