Brother of army soldier goes missing in Pulwama, family appeals him to return home

The family members of a youth, who went missing last week from Tumluhal village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, on Monday appealed to him to return home.

A first semester student at Government Degree College Pulwama, Junaid Rashid Wani (20) son of Abdul Rashid Wani, a resident of Tumluhal Village in Lassipora area, went missing seven days ago, according to his family.

His father, Abdul Rashid, as per news agency KNO, said that Junaid went to bring fodder for the animals while the rest of the family members were busy with making arrangements for the engagement ceremony of his other son, who is an army soldier

“We tried to contact him but his phone was switched off. We called all our relatives and his friends but couldn’t find him,” he said, adding that they lodged a missing report at police station Lassipora.

His parents and other family members appealed to all the organizations, including militants and the security forces, to send him home if he was with them.

A senior police officer said they were investigating the issue from all angles and that efforts were being made to trace him.

Pertinently, Junaid has gone missing just days after the brother of another army soldier went missing from Wangund area of Dooru. He later announced through an unverified audio clip that he had joined militancy.
